About The Position

The primary function of the position is to plan approved menus for meals and snacks for the Summer Education Program.

Requirements

  • Knowledge about food and proper sanitation
  • Ability to plan and prepare wholesome and palatable meals with minimum waste.
  • Be patient and understanding in working with children
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and complete tasks with attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, follow directions, and ask questions when needed.
  • Able to lift 40 lbs. and pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalent
  • Must pass mandatory CPR training and civil rights training.
  • Valid IHS Food Handler Safety Training card required or must attend training to obtain a card prior to preparing meals.
  • Possess a valid Nevada driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in meal planning and food purchasing preferred.
  • Prior Summer Food Service Program, food services, culinary or commercial kitchen experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise kitchen duties and program.
  • Prepare menus and serve meals that meet guidelines and requirements.
  • Assist with raw foods purchase and supplies.
  • Receive and store food and supply items according to appropriate food safety and temperature guidelines.
  • Supervise clean-up and sanitation of kitchen and dining area after meals are served.
  • Complete pre-service and in-service training programs.
  • Complete necessary paperwork for the summer food service program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
