2027 Summer Intern Process Sciences – Downstream Purification Support (IOPS)

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals•Rensselaer, IN
•$18 - $26•Onsite

About The Position

Regeneron is seeking multiple 2027 interns for its Downstream Purification and Process Sciences teams within the Industrial Operations and Product Supply (IOPS) Process Sciences department. The group develops and runs manufacturing-scale processes used to grow and purify Regeneron’s commercial biologic products. Interns will contribute to work that supports medicines for people with serious diseases. The work focuses on separating medicine produced by cells from other batch components and purifying it to a high standard, primarily through chromatography and filtration, including ultrafiltration and diafiltration. Projects may include small-scale laboratory experiments, testing in-line sensors on filtration systems, preparing chromatography solutions in-line, automating laboratory workflows with liquid-handling robots, and analyzing manufacturing or laboratory data to understand how process parameters and variability affect product quality. Some projects are primarily laboratory-based, while others emphasize data analysis, coding, statistical tools, modeling, visualization, and reporting. The internship is full-time and onsite in Rensselaer / East Greenbush, New York, from May or June through August 2027. The hourly pay range for these locations is $17.90–$25.50, with the rate determined by education level and degree program. Applicants must be enrolled in or accepted to an undergraduate or graduate degree program and return to school the semester after the internship or graduate after it. Relevant majors include Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Statistics, and Data Science. An interest in process problem-solving is more important than prior industry experience.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in or accepted to an undergraduate or graduate degree program and return to school the semester following the position or graduate after the position.
  • Relevant majors include Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Statistics, and Data Science.
  • An interest in process problem-solving; prior industry experience is not required.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated leadership in campus activities, clubs, sports, current or previous work, or the community is preferred.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct small-scale laboratory experiments related to downstream purification.
  • Test in-line sensors on filtration systems and prepare chromatography solutions in-line.
  • Automate laboratory workflows using liquid-handling robots.
  • Analyze historical manufacturing and laboratory data, including buffer pH and conductivity trends, to understand how process parameters affect product quality.
  • Assess how downstream process variability affects product quality.
  • Use statistical modeling, including design of experiments and multivariate models linking in-line sensor signals to laboratory measurements.
  • Use coding to create data visualizations and reports.

Benefits

  • Competitive and comprehensive total rewards package may include annual bonuses or other incentive plans, equity awards, pension or retirement benefits, 401(k) company match, health and wellness programs, fitness centers, medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid time off, and family support benefits.
