Hawaiian Electric’s Summer Internship Program gives students hands-on experience with professional-level projects and challenges. Interns receive coaching and mentoring from employees and work with a dedicated mentor to research and execute an objective-based individual project. The program also includes cross-functional activities and periodic opportunities to meet and interact with other interns. Activities may include a power plant tour, an intern social, a career pathways panel, and a professional development workshop. At the end of the internship, interns present their project deliverables and lessons learned to Hawaiian Electric management in an open forum. The position is based on Oahu. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a 30-minute lunch. Compensation starts at $21.00 per hour. This is a non-exempt role with two vacancies. Applicants must submit an official digital transcript directly from their institution’s Registrar. For Summer 2027, applicants must expect to graduate in December 2027 or later.
