About The Position

NORY, a leading STEM camp provider in NYC and Boston, is seeking a Summer Camp Staff Development Coach. This role focuses on training and empowering camp leaders and teachers, with the goal of mentoring over 200 camp staff and positively influencing the experiences of more than 4,000 campers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in training, coaching, and managing educational teams, with a proven ability to improve staff performance and drive growth. NORY offers a unique, transformative STEM education experience, often described as the 'Disney World of STEM education'.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in educational leadership, particularly in managing and training teaching staff (5+ years).
  • Demonstrated ability to implement effective teaching strategies and improve educational outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster relationships with teachers, parents, and staff.
  • Knowledgeable in child development and experienced in adapting teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Must be aligned deeply with NORY's core values ('Ways of Being').

  • No previous STEM background is required, as full training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Observe, train, and coach campsite leaders and teachers to enhance their performance and foster a positive, supportive learning environment.
  • Analyze feedback to set specific coaching goals, continuously assess staff performance, and provide constructive feedback to refine teaching strategies and enhance camp experiences.
  • Mentor campsite leaders on effective coaching techniques, promoting a partnered effort with Site Directors to develop and nurture educational staff.
  • Ensure all camp protocols are correctly implemented, maintaining and exceeding NORY standards to ensure the quality of the camp experience.
  • Provide guidance on effective behavior management and communication with parents when needed.
  • Actively communicate with headquarters teams—including curriculum, operations, and customer happiness—to improve support systems for campsite staff.
