About The Position

Penn State Abington seeks to hire part-time Youth Program instructors for grades K-12 from June 2027 through August 2027. Topics to be taught include STEM programming, arts, writing, leadership and soft skills, wellness, and others.

Requirements

• Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills
• Must be outgoing
• Work well with children
• Strong customer service skills
• Must be a self-starter
• Advanced degree in an appropriate discipline, from an accredited institution
• Daytime in-person programming from Monday through Thursday June 28 through August 12 2027, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Attend a one-day, in-person staff orientation at Penn State Abington, scheduled between June 21st and June 25th
• Apply online and submit a resume including any teaching experience, and cover letter stating the types of programs that you interested in teaching
• PA State Police Criminal Background Check
• PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form
• Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check
• National Sex Offender Registry Clearance (NSOR)
• Additional clearances may be necessary if you resided outside of Pennsylvania in the past five years

Nice To Haves

• Prior teaching experience is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Assisting with creating and implementing program curriculum and lessons
• Managing supplies
• Supervision of minors participating in programs
• Working collaboratively with the Youth Program Director, Student counselors, and Continuing Education staff to create an inviting, enjoyable and educational environment for students
• Attending team meetings as expected by Youth Program Director
• Attending a mandatory staff orientation prior to the camp season
