Perkins Coie•New York, NY

About The Position

Ashurst Perkins Coie is accepting applications from first-year law students for its 2028 summer associate program in the New York office, recruiting for the Projects, Energy, Environment & Resources practice. Summer associates join a specific practice area and are encouraged to explain in their application how their background, skills, and interests connect to that practice. Transfers to other practice areas are uncommon. Summer associates receive substantive research, drafting, analysis, and client-facing assignments while working alongside attorneys and mentors. They may attend hearings, client meetings, depositions, and deal closings; work on pro bono matters; participate in professional development activities; and attend social events to build relationships across the firm. The program aims to help students establish a foundation in their chosen area of law and develop long-term professional connections. Applicants are evaluated on academic achievement, writing and interpersonal skills, relevant experience, and life experiences that have shaped their perspectives and professional goals. The position pays $18,750 per month. It is not benefits-eligible, although paid holidays are available.
