About The Position

WilmerHale is accepting applications from JD Class of 2029 students for its 2028 Summer Associate Program. The program exposes summer associates to the firm’s practices and lawyers through challenging assignments, practical training, and opportunities to work and socialize with attorneys. Participants are paired with mentors and perform substantive legal work for real clients. They may accompany attorneys to meetings, depositions, hearings, trials, negotiations, and closings. Training and networking opportunities include practice group presentations, interactive workshops, mock trials and deals, and personalized legal writing coaching.

The firm seeks students whose academic and personal records demonstrate a commitment to excellence; students hired are typically at or near the top of their class. The position is open to eligible full-time, first-year law students expecting to graduate from an ABA-accredited law school in 2029.

Requirements

• Be a full-time, first-year law student expecting to graduate from an ABA-accredited law school in 2029.
• Demonstrate a commitment to excellence through academic and personal achievements; students hired are typically at or near the top of their class.
• Submit a complete application packet including a cover letter, resume, undergraduate transcript, writing sample, and law school transcript with first-semester/trimester/quarter grades. Final first-semester/quarter transcripts are required before offers are extended.

Responsibilities

• Perform substantive legal work for real clients.
• Accompany attorneys to meetings, depositions, hearings, trials, negotiations, and/or closings.
• Participate in practice group presentations, interactive workshops, mock trials and deals, and personalized legal writing coaching.
• Engage with mentors and firm attorneys through the summer program.
