About The Position

Seyfarth is hiring a 2028 Summer Associate for its Real Estate department in the New York office. The program is designed for law students who have completed one year of law school by spring 2027 and expect to receive a JD in May 2029. Summer Associates work alongside attorneys on real client matters and receive a specialized curriculum that connects academic learning with practical legal experience. Associates are assigned to a specific department for the full summer, with opportunities to engage with attorneys across departments and throughout the firm. Partners and a team of partner and associate mentors support professional development through individualized feedback and coaching. The position is based in New York, NY 10018, and compensation is based on an annualized salary of $225,000.

Requirements

Complete one year of law school by spring 2027 and expect to receive a JD in May 2029.
Demonstrate academic achievement.
Show an appreciation for collaboration and teamwork.
Have a clear interest in Real Estate, evidenced by coursework, certificate programs, or prior work experience.
Submit a resume, cover letter, undergraduate transcript, law school transcript when available, and a writing sample.

Responsibilities

Work on actual client cases and projects.
Attend client meetings.
Shadow attorneys on a variety of deals and cases for hands-on learning.
Participate in a specialized training curriculum, including substantive legal seminars and training in ethics, client service, marketing, legal writing, communication, and finance.
Attend practical learning opportunities such as depositions, court appearances, and closings.
