About The Position

The Legal Department is proud to support Navy Federal’s mission by serving as a trusted partner across the enterprise. Our team provides legal, compliance, operational, and regulatory expertise that helps protect the credit union, support informed decision-making, and enable exceptional service to our members. Through collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to excellence, we work every day to help Navy Federal achieve its strategic goals while navigating an evolving legal and regulatory landscape. The Legal Department is organized into four divisions, Office of General Counsel (OGC), Compliance, Regulatory Liaison Office (RLO), and Planning & Optimization (P&O) each playing a vital role in supporting Navy Federal’s mission and strategic objectives. The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2027 and ending in August 2027. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or later.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Communications, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Project Management or other related field
  • Familiarity with project/program management processes and methodologies
  • Exposure to working and participating in cross-functional, multi-dimensional teams and projects
  • Ability to compile, organize, and present information clearly and concisely
  • Familiarity with PCs and Microsoft Office Suite products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Effective skill in exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions
  • Currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or later.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor project timelines, milestones, and deliverables, providing status updates and progress reports to stakeholders
  • Partner with team members across multiple Legal divisions to support department priorities and accomplish assigned work
  • Draft and edit internal communications, ensuring messaging is clear, concise, and aligned with department objectives
  • Observe leadership meetings and discussions to develop an understanding of strategic planning, governance, and executive decision-making
  • Maintain and organize project documentation, reference materials, and departmental records as needed
