About The Position

Suite Server & Attendants operate catering services in the AMSOIL Arena suites during sporting events and concerts. They set up, serve food and beverages, clean service areas, and provide suite holders and single-game renters with a hospitable guest experience. This is a part-time, event-driven position with hours based on DECC event needs, generally 0–20 hours per week. The suites are busiest from October through May. Shifts are mostly afternoons and evenings on weekends and may include weeknights and holidays. Availability for every UMD men’s hockey game is essential. The wage is $13 per hour plus gratuities. The DECC provides a uniform shirt and name tag. Employees provide black dress pants (no leggings or jeans) and black shoes; plain black tennis shoes are acceptable. Long hair must be pulled back. The position has no supervisory responsibilities and requires no travel. Employment is at will. Requirements

At least 2 years of customer service experience.
Basic math and cash-handling skills.
Ability to use a point-of-sale system.
Ability to provide a high level of customer service.
Ability to adapt to changes, delays, or unexpected events.
Ability to move quickly throughout the complex.
Ability to stand and walk for hours at a time.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Must successfully complete reference checks and a background check; a drug test may also be required.
Must provide acceptable documents verifying identity and employment authorization at the time of hire.
Must be available to work every UMD men’s hockey game.
Must provide black dress pants and black shoes; long hair must be pulled back.

Nice To Haves

At least one year of serving and/or bartending experience.

Responsibilities

Provide exceptional hospitality while serving food and beverages to suite holders and single-game renters during events at the DECC in AMSOIL Arena.
Provide prompt customer service, speak courteously with customers, determine their needs, and assist them.
Assist with catering functions and perform additional serving or bartending duties as required.
Review event sheets and ensure event areas are set up correctly.
Serve hors d’oeuvres and set up, monitor, and serve buffet lines as required.
Place orders and process payments using a point-of-sale system.
Provide alcohol service in addition to food service in the suites.
Clear, close, and clean suites and service areas; perform opening and closing duties as required.
Adapt to changes, delays, or unexpected events.
Maintain a professional and hospitable appearance and atmosphere.
Follow sanitation, health, and safety protocols.
