Substitute Tutor (PT) - Chicopee Woods Elementary
About The Position
The Substitute Tutor helps students learn by reviewing content, explaining problem-solving approaches, and checking completed work. The tutor may also help students build study skills and organizational techniques to improve academic performance. Alongside academic instruction, the role involves supervising small groups, providing discipline, and serving as a role model. Tutors are expected to be passionate about helping students learn and to help students approach difficult skills and concepts in new ways. The position is based in Hall County, with potential assignments at Chicopee Woods Elementary Success Academy.
Requirements
- Ability to develop positive rapport with students.
- Established proficiency in subject matter.
- Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with lesson plan design and implementation.
- Good organization and attention to detail, especially when managing and analyzing student data.
Nice To Haves
- Teaching certificate strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Ensure lesson plans align with GSE from GADOE and school-based Units of Study.
- Find, share, and incorporate project-based learning and STREAM activities from various resources into lesson planning.
- Submit weekly lesson plans to the Expanding Learning Director or Lead Teacher.
- Implement daily or weekly schedules of small-group tutoring during the afterschool and/or summer camp program year.
- Record daily program attendance using attendance rosters.
- Communicate with school-day teachers to establish action plans for students and share student progress at least once per quarter using the Teacher-Tutor Communication Form.
- If absent, coordinate with a Supervisor to secure a substitute or arrange an alternate activity.
- Review content with students, explain how to solve problems, and check completed work.
- Help students develop study skills and organization techniques.
- Supervise small groups of students, provide discipline, and serve as a role model.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
