The Afterschool Tutor helps students learn by reviewing content, explaining problem-solving methods, and checking completed work. Tutors may also help students develop study skills and organization techniques to improve academic performance. In addition to academic instruction, tutors supervise small groups, provide discipline, and serve as role models. The role requires a passion for helping students learn and the knowledge and skills to help them approach difficult skills and concepts in new ways. This position is based in Hall County, with potential assignments at the Tim Lee Club. Tutors align lesson plans with Georgia Standards of Excellence and school-based units of study; incorporate project-based learning and STREAM activities; submit weekly lesson plans; and implement small-group tutoring schedules during after-school and/or summer camp programs. They record daily attendance, communicate with school-day teachers about student action plans and progress at least once per quarter, and coordinate with a supervisor to arrange coverage or alternate activities when absent. Other related duties may be assigned.
