About The Position

Awaken Christian Academy is looking for Substitute Teachers to join our team for the Fall 2026 School year. We are looking for a person who can work in a fast-paced environment with creativity and attention to detail. Awaken Las Vegas staff members are committed to being Christ-centered, biblically based, spirit-led, ceaselessly praying, community-serving, diversity embracing, God-glorifying, and an excellence-striving community that is filled with God’s love. As such, each staff member is a part of the ministry by teaching the Bible, praying for and with others, and carrying out the vision of Awaken Las Vegas. This is an on-call, as-needed position, substituting in the absence of a regular Awaken Christian Academy Teacher. The Substitute Teacher is an important resource as an instructor and caregiver to the students during the day. The Substitute Teacher would establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures while maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible. The Substitute Teacher is committed to Jesus Christ with strong integrity, dedication, and passion. This position requires someone who is passionate about Jesus and representing Him to others with a warm smile and a servant's heart. Must have a heart for the mission and a drive of Awaken Christian Academy and Awaken Las Vegas.

Requirements

• Minimum experience working with children in a structured setting is expected.
• Must be dependable, hardworking, innovative, detail oriented, and capable of working independently.
• Must have excellent people skills, optimistic, and see the best in others.
• Team-oriented: willing to follow, support, and collaborate with team members.
• Ability to learn and work quickly and efficiently.
• Must be flexible; able to focus on what needs to happen to reach the goal.
• Possess presentational skills with the ability to speak in front of others in an engaging and motivating way.
• Ability to take the lead or work in a supportive role and work well under the leadership of others.
• Must be able to act in accordance with the guidelines established.
• Must be able to follow standard procedures in crises situations.

Nice To Haves

• Teaching experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Follow lesson plans that have been developed by the Teacher.
• Utilize prepared materials for class activities.
• Submit attendance and any behavior reports as needed.
• Enforce rules for behavior and procedures.
• Maintain order in the classroom.
• Communicate any questions or concerns to the school principal or administration.
• Enforce administration policies and rules governing students.
• Additional duties as assigned.
