The Substitute Teacher supports classrooms in creating and maintaining a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment. Substitutes may be assigned to different classrooms and age groups based on center needs, serving children from infants through pre-kindergarten and in K–5 after-school care. Responsibilities include assisting with curriculum, providing breaks for classroom teachers, ensuring children’s safety and well-being, and helping maintain a clean, welcoming environment. Substitutes submit their availability each week by Wednesday for the following week. Directors schedule substitutes based on their availability and center needs. Once a substitute agrees to a shift, they are expected to cover it fully. If illness or an emergency prevents attendance, the substitute must give at least two hours’ notice directly to the Center Director at the scheduled location. More than two undocumented absences or one no-call, no-show may result in termination, and inconsistent communication of availability may result in removal from the substitute list. Center operating hours vary by location, from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Centers are located in Caldwell, Nampa, and Boise. Substitutes who demonstrate reliability, teamwork, and alignment with Kangaroo Clubhouse’s values may be considered for more permanent opportunities.
