About The Position

The Ohio School for the Deaf (OSD) is one of the oldest continuously open public deaf schools in the United States. We welcome approximately 150 Deaf and hard of hearing students to campus each year from around Ohio. We use Expanded Common Core in our classrooms and offer students opportunities to learn and grow socially and emotionally in a safe environment through extra-curricular activities. This position serves as a substitute for a permanent teacher, instructing students, following lesson plans, and assessing student knowledge. The role involves maintaining a well-structured educational environment, monitoring students, and pursuing professional development. Requirements

• Must maintain valid Ohio substitute teacher license or higher.
• Must demonstrate Advanced level on the Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) within one year of hire, Intermediate level minimum for hiring.
• Must maintain valid Ohio substitute teacher license or higher.
• The final candidate selected for the position will be required to submit a urinalysis to test for illegal drug use prior to an appointment.

Responsibilities

• Substitute for permanent teacher.
