About The Position

Kokua is seeking substitute teachers in Maple Grove and the surrounding Minneapolis area for the 2025-2026 school year. This part-time role offers the opportunity to make a positive impact in the community by connecting students with classroom role models and helping them achieve their best. Substitute teaching provides a flexible schedule, typically with great working hours, and allows individuals to contribute to solving the teacher shortage crisis while gaining valuable experience.

Requirements

• 6 months experience working with students (tutoring, camps, volunteer and other experience counts!)
• Bachelor's Degree or higher
• Current residence in or willingness to commute to Minneapolis MN
• Substitute Teaching License or Educators license
• Confidence to manage a classroom of students
• Ability to pass state & federal background check
• Have reliable means of transportation

Responsibilities

• Manage a classroom of students.
• Create powerful moments that shift students’ perception of what’s possible.
• Spark a love for learning with students.
• Add representation to the classroom to help kids learn from unique experiences.
• Choose teaching assignments and locations.
