About The Position

Kokua is seeking passionate individuals to become substitute teachers in the Blaine and surrounding Minneapolis area for the 2025-2026 school year. This part-time role offers the opportunity to make a positive impact in the community, help address the teacher shortage, and provide students with diverse role models. The position offers flexibility in scheduling, with up to 5 days per week, and typical working hours of 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. Substitute teachers can choose assignments and locations that interest them. Kokua provides competitive daily pay, reimbursement for substitute teaching licenses and background check fees after a certain number of teaching days, referral bonuses, and a supportive team.

Requirements

6 months experience working with students (tutoring, camps, volunteer and other experience counts!)
Bachelor's Degree or higher
Current residence in or willingness to commute to Minneapolis
MN Substitute Teaching License or Educators license
Confidence to manage a classroom of students
Ability to pass state & federal background check
Have reliable means of transportation
