Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers to work in K-12 schools in Saint Paul and Minneapolis for the 2026-27 school year. Substitute teachers set their own schedules and may work up to five days per week, with a requirement to work at least two days per week. Assignments may include daily and long-term teaching positions, as well as lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season. The role pays $178 per day for daily positions and $195 per day for long-term positions, with weekly paychecks through W-2 employment. Selected shifts may offer additional pay. Kokua provides support from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily and free professional development. Applicants who do not yet hold a Minnesota substitute teaching or educator license can receive guidance through the online application process; out-of-pocket licensing costs are reimbursed after starting to teach. Background check costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments. The position may provide a path to permanent roles at high-performing K-12 schools.
