Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers for the 2026–27 school year in Saint Paul and Minneapolis. Substitute teachers work in K–12 schools, cover lesson plans, and serve as positive role models who support students’ learning and help broaden their sense of what is possible. Teachers can choose assignments and set their own schedule, working up to five days per week and at least two days per week. Assignments may also include lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season. The role offers a path to potential permanent positions at high-performing K–12 schools. Kokua provides support from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily and free professional development. Applicants without a Minnesota license may receive guidance through the online application process, with out-of-pocket licensing costs reimbursed once they begin teaching. Background-check costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments. Pay is up to $195 per day, with $178 for daily assignments and $195 for long-term assignments, weekly paychecks, and additional pay for selected shifts. Employment is paid via W-2.
