About The Position

Kokua is seeking substitute teachers for the 2025-26 school year in New York City. This part-time role offers the opportunity to make a positive impact in the community, help address the teacher shortage, and gain flexible work experience. Substitute teachers will be responsible for managing classrooms, fostering a love for learning, and providing representation in schools. Kokua operates in various private and charter schools across Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Queens.

Requirements

• Completed Bachelor’s Degree (per NYC requirement)
• 1+ year(s) experience working with K-12 students
• Confidence to manage a classroom of students
• Ability to pass a background check
• Availability within a 7:30am-4:30pm window

Nice To Haves

• Preference given to candidates who can work at least 3 days/week
• Preference is given to candidates willing to commute to 2+ boroughs
