About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring substitute teachers for the 2026–27 school year in the Philadelphia area. Substitute teachers cover classroom assignments at K–12 partner schools, serving as positive role models and helping students learn. Teachers can choose their schedule, work up to five days per week, and select teaching assignments that interest them. Assignments may be daily or long-term. The role may also involve lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring. Daily positions pay $196 per day and long-term positions pay $216 per day, with weekly paychecks through W-2 employment. Requirements

• Completed bachelor’s degree.
• At least 6 months of experience working with students in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to take on additional school duties as needed, including supervision, tutoring, and proctoring.
• Pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
• Able to commute to North Philadelphia, where many partner schools are located.
• Include relevant experience working with students on the resume for consideration.

Responsibilities
