About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring substitute teachers for K-12 schools in Garden Acres and the surrounding Fort Worth area for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers cover classroom assignments, serve as positive role models, and help students develop a love of learning. Applicants can set their own schedule and work up to five days per week in assignments that interest them. Assignments may include daily or long-term teaching positions, with opportunities to pursue permanent roles at high-performing K-12 schools. Kokua says it provides support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Applications are being accepted now, and the interview process can begin immediately.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• At least 48 completed college credit hours.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to assist with additional school duties where needed.
• Pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
• Include relevant experience working with students on the resume for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Cover teaching assignments at K-12 schools in the Fort Worth area.
• Manage a classroom of students and support student learning.
• Step in where needed, including lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season.
• Serve as a positive role model and contribute to students’ sense of what is possible.
