About The Position

Kokua is seeking substitute teachers for the 2025-26 school year in the Rio Grande Valley, TX. This part-time role offers the opportunity to make a positive impact in the community by sparking a love for learning in students and helping to address the teacher shortage crisis. Substitute teachers will have a flexible schedule, with the possibility of working up to 5 days a week, and will be able to choose assignments and locations that best suit them. The role involves leading classrooms, creating a safe and supportive learning environment, and providing support in various capacities such as lunch/recess supervision, hall monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring.

Requirements

• 1+ year(s) working with students in any setting (classroom, tutoring, coaching, camps, etc.)
• Minimum of 48 college credit hours
• Confidence to manage a classroom of students
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
• Strong belief that every child has a unique & powerful gift to share with the world
• Ability to pass state & federal background checks
