About The Position

Kokua is seeking substitute teachers for the 2025-26 school year in the Rio Grande Valley, TX. This part-time role offers the opportunity to make a positive impact in the community by sparking a love for learning in students and helping to address the teacher shortage crisis. Substitute teachers will have a flexible schedule, up to 5 days a week, and the autonomy to choose teaching assignments and locations. The role involves leading classrooms, creating a safe and supportive learning environment, and providing support throughout the school day, which may include lunch/recess supervision, hall and bathroom monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season. Kokua offers weekly paychecks, a quick hiring process, and the chance to gain experience in K-12 schools, potentially leading to full-time positions. The company provides W-2 employment and a supportive community with extended hours of access to their support team.

Requirements

• 1+ year(s) working with students in any setting (classroom, tutoring, coaching, camps, etc.)
• Minimum of 48 college credit hours
• Confidence to manage a classroom of students
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
• Strong belief that every child has a unique & powerful gift to share with the world
• Ability to pass state & federal background checks

• Flexibility is a plus, as some schools may have earlier or later needs than the standard 7:00 AM – 4:15 PM work hours.
