About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring part-time substitute teachers for K-12 schools in southeast Denver for the 2026-27 school year. Substitute teachers provide classroom coverage and serve as positive role models who help students develop a love of learning. Assignments may include daily and long-term positions, with pay depending on experience and certification. Teachers set their own schedules and can work up to five days per week in assignments they are excited about, choosing from schools across the Denver area. The role may also involve lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season. Kokua offers daily support from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and describes the role as a potential path to permanent positions at high-performing K-12 schools.

Requirements

At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
Confidence managing a classroom of students.
Willingness to assist where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and testing proctoring.
Pass state and federal background checks; the costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
Believe every child has a unique and powerful gift to share with the world.

Nice To Haves

A bachelor’s degree is preferred; candidates without a degree may be considered based on relevant work experience.
