About The Position

Serve as a Daily Rate Substitute Teacher for the deaf or visually impaired, working with students attending the Laboratory Schools through the Heart of Illinois Low Incidence (HILIAS) program.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution of higher education or show completion of 60 semester hours of coursework
  • Short-Term Substitute License through the Regional Office of Education, or valid Illinois Substitute teaching certificate
  • Demonstrates competent sign language skills OR competent braille skills
  • Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
  • Move about in various locations on and off campus as needed to complete day-to-day work
  • Effectively communicate on a daily basis

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Daily Rate Substitute Teacher for the Deaf or Visually Impaired
  • Provide academic classroom instruction for students in the absence of the regular teacher.
