About The Position
Fairbury Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and adaptable Registered Nurse to provide substitute school nursing services across Central Elementary, Jefferson Intermediate, and Fairbury Jr.-Sr. High School. The position is as-needed (PRN) and covers both planned absences and unexpected, same-day staffing needs. The nurse may be assigned to travel between district schools to provide health coverage.
Requirements
- Hold a valid, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska.
- Hold valid CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
- Be highly flexible and responsive to last-minute, early-morning calls and pre-scheduled coverage days.
- Have reliable personal transportation and be willing to travel between district buildings.
- Demonstrate strong clinical judgment and excellent communication skills.
- Be able to work independently with a diverse student population.
- Successfully complete a comprehensive district background check.
Responsibilities
- Provide first aid, emergency care, and routine medical treatments to students and staff.
- Administer prescribed medications in accordance with district policies and state regulations.
- Manage student health records and document clinic visits.
- Provide care for students with chronic health conditions, including diabetes, asthma, and severe allergies.
- Travel between the district’s three schools as assigned.
- Maintain a safe, sanitary, and healthy environment in school health offices.
