About The Position

This on-call/substitute position supports teachers with supervision and redirection to ensure the successful inclusion of all children, including those with identified special needs, such as significant and affective needs, through in-class and small-group instruction. Other duties may include, but are not limited to serving meals, clerical support, following of individual student plans, and material preparation. Develop and promote good community relations among stakeholders. The position involves riding the bus and providing student supervision during morning and afternoon bus runs to and from the work site.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent (preferred).
  • BIlingual/Spanish preferred
  • English fluency will be determined through the application and interview process.
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License.
  • Valid CPR and First Aid Certification (preferred).
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in response to change.
  • Possesses computer and technology skills.
  • Effectively works with students from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Collaborates well with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Capable of understanding and following both complex oral and written instructions.
  • Able to perform duties independently with minimal supervision.
  • Communicates effectively with the School District community.
  • Skilled in analysis, instruction, negotiation, coordination, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal interactions.
  • Proficient in comparing, computing, synthesizing, and evaluating information.
  • Meets attendance standards and works the necessary hours to fulfill essential responsibilities.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Upholds a generally positive attitude.
  • Complies with all District policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to federal and state laws, regulations, and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and support small groups of students.
  • Promote a learning environment that respects the child's dignity and is perceived by students as fair and consistent.
  • Support a learning environment that establishes routines and provides for student engagement through questioning, speculation, and originality.
  • Encourage a learning environment that is safe for responding and questioning, even for the shyest student.
  • Elicit responses from every member of the group.
  • Ensure that all students understand the material.
  • Lead multi-level students to work together effectively.
  • Establish rapport with students, staff, and parents that enables proactive responses to potential problems.
  • Provide student supervision in groups, at recess, at lunch, and on field trips.
  • Actively participate in PLCs and other required training.
  • Apply and implement knowledge, skills, and new understandings to support instructional programming.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
