About The Position
The Instructional Assistant - Special Education assists, under direct supervision, with supervising and instructing students enrolled in a special education curriculum and helps teachers with clerical duties. The related Behavioral Assistant-Special Education role assists, under direct and indirect supervision, with monitoring and instruction of special education students, routine clerical tasks, and students’ academic, daily living, and special health care activities. This posting is open throughout the school year, and the District hires on an as-needed basis. It may cover Instructional Assistant Special Education positions at $18.00 per hour and Behavioral Assistant Special Education positions at $25.00 per hour. Requirements
- Meet one of the following standards: complete two years of study at an institution of higher education and obtain an associate’s degree or higher, or successfully pass a formal local academic assessment or the ECESD Competency Exam.
- Submit a CPR/First Aid Certification, Paraprofessional Compliance Documents, and a resume with the EdJoin application.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the supervision and instruction of students enrolled in a special education curriculum.
- Assist teachers with clerical duties.
- Monitor and instruct special education students under direct and indirect supervision, as applicable to the Behavioral Assistant role.
- Help students with academic, daily living, and special health care activities, as applicable to the Behavioral Assistant role.
- Relieve teachers of routine clerical tasks, as applicable to the Behavioral Assistant role.
