About The Position

AB Staffing is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher for the 2026/2027 school year in Wyandanch, New York. The caseload and classroom details vary by school location. This is a contract through the 2026/2027 school year, follows the academic district calendar, and is scheduled for 37.5 hours per week.

The teacher will develop and deliver instruction and special education programs tailored to students’ needs, adapting curriculum and materials to IEP goals and diverse learning styles. The role includes providing individualized and group instruction, assessing and documenting student progress, maintaining a safe and positive classroom, communicating with parents, and collaborating with educators and specialists. The teacher must also follow applicable special education regulations and participate in professional development.

Requirements

• Master’s degree related to Special Education from an accredited college or university.
• New York State Teacher Certification in Special Education K-12 or Students with Disabilities.
• Knowledge of the assigned core academic subject, curriculum, and ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations and policies affecting special education.

Nice To Haves

• One year of successful Special Education teaching experience in a K-12 school is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging, effective lesson plans and special education programs tailored to students’ needs.

• Maintain regular contact with parents, provide progress updates, and collaborate on strategies to support learning at home.
