On Call Substitute Childcare Teacher, Shippensburg, PA

Wellthy•Freeport, ME
•$18 - $20•Onsite

About The Position

Patch Caregiving provides backup childcare to workers through their employers, with care spaces located within parents’ workplaces. The on-call substitute teacher manages a play-based, multi-age care room for children ages 2–12. The position provides as-needed coverage for two shifts, Monday through Friday: 5 a.m.–11 a.m. and 11 a.m.–5 p.m., at the Shippensburg, Pennsylvania site. This is long-term, ongoing coverage, not a seasonal position. This is a part-time position with a variable schedule. Shifts are typically finalized on the Friday before the upcoming week, and the teacher receives confirmation of the following day’s start time through a scheduling tool or a message from the Regional Care Director. Shift times vary according to employer schedules and may not be predictable in advance, so flexibility and short-notice availability are important. The teacher ensures children’s safety and wellbeing, leads age-appropriate activities and curriculum, communicates with parents, handles emergencies, maintains records and a clean, organized space, and collaborates with fellow teachers and the Center Director. The role involves active, hands-on engagement, including lifting children weighing up to 40–50 pounds, sitting and moving at floor level, standing for extended periods, and supervising children indoors and outdoors.
