About The Position

Avenues Recovery Center is hiring Substance Abuse Counselors at its facility in Covington, Louisiana. Counselors provide individualized, evidence-based addiction treatment and coordinate clinical services and aftercare for their caseloads. The role includes individual, group, family, and couple therapy; crisis prevention and intervention; thorough documentation; and collaboration with the Clinical Director, treatment team, and families. Counselors are expected to model ethics, accountability, dignity, respect, and recovery principles.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, or a related field.
• Valid state licensure or certification required to practice in this role: LPC, LAC, or CIT.
• Excellent observational, collaborative, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Compassionate, dignified character that models recovery principles.
• Ability to set strong boundaries and maintain absolute confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree.

Responsibilities

• Create individualized, evidence-based treatment plans for each client.
• Conduct individual, group, family, and couple therapy sessions.
• Take responsibility for clinical needs, services, and aftercare for the assigned client caseload.
• Prevent, intervene, and de-escalate during crises.
• Maintain thorough documentation of client challenges, progress, relapse risk, and interventions.
• Coordinate care with the Clinical Director, treatment team, and families.
• Model ethics, honesty, accountability, dignity, respect, and recovery principles in professional interactions.
