About The Position

Avenues Recovery Center is seeking Substance Abuse Counselors for its facility in Covington, Louisiana. The role supports clients receiving addiction treatment through individualized, evidence-based care and coordination across their treatment and aftercare needs. Counselors work with clients and collaborate with the clinical team and families, while modeling recovery principles and maintaining professional ethics and confidentiality.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, or a related field.
• Valid state licensure or certification to practice in the role: LPC, LAC, or CIT.
• Excellent observational, collaborative, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Compassionate, dignified character that models recovery principles.
• Ability to set strong boundaries and maintain absolute confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree.

Responsibilities

• Create individualized, evidence-based treatment plans for each client.
• Conduct individual, group, family, and couple therapy sessions.
• Take responsibility for clinical needs, services, and aftercare for the counselor's client caseload.
• Prevent, intervene, and de-escalate during crises.
• Maintain detailed documentation of client challenges, progress, relapse risk, and interventions.
• Coordinate care with the Clinical Director, treatment team, and family.
• Model honesty, accountability, dignity, respect, and recovery principles in professional interactions.
