About The Position

Avenues Recovery Center is hiring a Substance Abuse Counselor to provide individualized clinical care to clients in addiction treatment. The counselor develops evidence-based treatment plans, conducts therapy, oversees clinical needs and aftercare for an assigned caseload, responds to crises, maintains thorough documentation, and coordinates care with the clinical team and families. The role calls for compassionate, ethical practice that models recovery principles, maintains confidentiality, and establishes appropriate boundaries.

The position is based at Avenues Recovery Center at Dublin, a residential facility in New Hampshire providing drug and alcohol detox and inpatient rehabilitation services. The facility offers a rustic, relaxed environment and is staffed by clinicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, addictions counselors, and behavioral health technicians.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, or a related field.
• Excellent observational, collaborative, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Compassionate and dignified character that models recovery principles.
• Ability to set strong boundaries and maintain absolute confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree.
• Valid state licensure or certification to practice in the role, such as LADC, MLADC, LSW, LICSW, or LCMHC.

Responsibilities

• Create individualized, evidence-based treatment plans for each client.
• Conduct individual, group, family, and couple therapy sessions.
• Take responsibility for clinical needs, services, and aftercare for the assigned client caseload.
• Prevent, intervene, and de-escalate during crises.
• Maintain thorough documentation of client challenges, progress, relapse risk, and interventions.
• Coordinate care with the Clinical Director, treatment team, and families.
• Model ethics, honesty, accountability, dignity, respect, and recovery principles in professional interactions.
