About The Position
The Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor evaluates, treats, and supports individuals recovering from substance use disorders. As an interdisciplinary team member, the counselor collaborates with healthcare professionals to help achieve positive clinical outcomes. The role also includes preparing individuals for discharge and supporting continuity of care during the transition from the facility.
Requirements
- High school diploma and certification required.
- Experience providing SUD counseling required.
- Active California certification in one of the following: SUDCC I–IV, CADTP, CCAPP, ACCBC, CADC I–III, LAADC, or CATC I–IV or N.
- Licensure or certification, or eligibility for licensure or certification, as required by the state of employment.
- Must reside in the United States.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in a health services field preferred.
- Ability to practice independently preferred.
Responsibilities
- Administer screening and assessment tools and diagnose substance use disorders within the scope of practice and applicable certification or licensure.
- Contribute to treatment plans and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, collaborating with healthcare professionals to evaluate and treat patients with SUD.
- Provide group and individual services to people with substance use disorders.
- Complete thorough, accurate, and timely documentation while maintaining confidentiality and complying with HIPAA requirements.
- Collect and analyze data about services provided and assist with preparing reports for contracts, grants, and accreditation.
- Plan for continuity of care after an individual's release from the facility.
- Provide crisis response and intervention services.
- Perform other assigned duties.
