About The Position

Avenues Recovery Center is hiring counselors and therapists for its inpatient detox and residential treatment facility in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The counselor provides individualized, evidence-based addiction treatment and is responsible for the clinical needs, services, and aftercare of an assigned client caseload. The role involves therapy, crisis response, documentation, and coordination with the clinical team and clients’ families while modeling recovery principles and professional ethics.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, or a related field.
• Valid Virginia licensure or certification to practice in this role; examples include CSAC, Social Work Supervisee, Resident in Counseling, LCSW, LPC, or LSATP.
• Excellent observational, collaborative, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Compassionate, dignified character that models recovery principles.
• Ability to set strong boundaries and maintain absolute confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Create individualized, evidence-based treatment plans for each client.
• Conduct individual, group, family, and couple therapy sessions.
• Take responsibility for the clinical needs, services, and aftercare of an assigned client caseload.
• Prevent, intervene, and de-escalate during crises.
• Maintain accurate documentation of client challenges, progress, relapse risk, and interventions.
• Coordinate care with the Clinical Director, treatment team, and families.
• Model honesty, accountability, dignity, respect, and recovery principles in professional interactions.
