Substance Abuse Counselor-in-Training (SAC-IT)
About The Position
Wood Violet Recovery is seeking a compassionate and motivated Substance Abuse Counselor-In-Training (SAC-IT) to join their clinical team. This role is ideal for individuals starting their counseling career who wish to gain practical clinical experience and receive supervision towards full licensure. The position is located at a residential treatment center in southwest Wisconsin, offering evidence-based care for adults with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. The SAC-IT will help clients build healthier lives while developing their own clinical skills in a supportive, collaborative setting.
Requirements
- Active SAC-IT registration in Wisconsin
- Passion for helping individuals in recovery
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid Wisconsin driver's license
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Responsibilities
- Co-facilitate and eventually lead psychoeducational, process, and recovery groups
- Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation
- Build counseling skills through supervised individual sessions
- Participate in treatment planning and interdisciplinary team meetings
- Foster a safe, supportive, and engaging therapeutic environment
- Learn from experienced clinicians while working toward independent practice
