Intact’s Global Specialty Lines business operates across more than 20 verticals in four distinct markets: U.S., Canada, UK, and Europe. This opportunity is for our U.S. team. We are seeking a Subrogation Supervisor to join our Specialty Recovery Claims team. This position will supervise the day-to-day activities and procedures of subrogation representatives, ensuring the proper handling and outcomes of subrogated occupational accident claims. The role involves developing strategy, analyzing results, and overseeing the daily work of direct reports, including making assignments and tracking the recovery of complex subrogation claims. The supervisor will review and provide technical direction or recommendations on subrogated claims of varying complexity and make appropriate recommendations to management regarding coverage and settlement. Additionally, the role includes monitoring quality, customer feedback, and claim reports to ensure compliance, customer satisfaction, and achievement of objectives. The supervisor may also perform the duties of their subordinates as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of subrogation experience
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience

Responsibilities

  • Supervises day-to-day activities and priorities of subrogation staff, including the assessment and management of claims assignments and ongoing guidance of subrogated claim files.
  • Ensures execution of subrogation strategies, including review of potential files to assess viability of collection.
  • Monitors and tracks subrogation recoveries regularly to ensure expected outcomes.
  • Reviews and analyzes claim reports to identify and address trends.
  • Recommends strategies to correct adverse trends.
  • Reviews and documents recommendations for subrogated claims; including evaluation, negotiation and settlement of claims in excess of staff authority levels.
  • Manages vendor relationships, subrogation attorneys, experts and TPAs to ensure service quality.
  • Manages unit staffing issues, including ensuring appropriateness of staffing levels, creating, implementing and monitoring of performance management activities for direct reports.
  • May independently manage an inventory of subrogation files within the broadest limits of assigned authority.
  • Identifies skill gaps of staff and establishes appropriate training needs.
  • Develops and delivers effective training and cross-training plans.
  • Maintains a strong professional knowledge of subrogation regulatory and legal environments and applies this information effectively.
  • Anticipates and meets all customer needs (internal and external).
