About The Position

The Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) is seeking educators who are committed to building caring relationships with students and families, maintaining high expectations through an asset-based lens, and creating more equitable conditions in public schools. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Eligible for employment in the US.
  • Pass a criminal background check.
  • Possess, or be willing to earn, a California teaching credential authorizing instruction in core curriculum.
  • Completed online application.
  • Resume and cover letter.
  • Two current professional references, including from a supervisor.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or commitment to weekly testing (upon request).

Responsibilities

  • Teach core curriculum to middle and high school students.
  • Build and maintain caring relationships with students and families.
  • Maintain high expectations for all students using an asset-based approach.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, families, and students.
  • Engage in self-reflection and incorporate feedback to grow as an educator.
  • Work towards eliminating racism in educational systems and policies.
