About The Position

The Blinn College District is hiring a Student Worker - Library at its Brenham Campus. The role performs daily maintenance and operating functions in an academic library. Employment is arranged semester by semester. Applicants must be eligible for work-study funding through Financial Aid and FAFSA. Interviews are conducted online via Zoom, and selected applicants will be asked to take an online filing test and provide their Spring 2027 class schedule and two references.

Requirements

Must be eligible for work-study funding through Financial Aid and FAFSA.
Must be able to work one evening per week until 9:30 p.m. (Sunday through Thursday) and one Saturday shift per month from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Must be able to shelve books on the highest bookshelves, stand on a stool, and pick up and carry weights up to 20 pounds.
For an interview, applicants must take an online filing test (10–20 minutes) and be prepared to email their Spring 2027 class schedule and two references. References may include former or current employers or teachers, but not family or friends.

Responsibilities

Shelve books throughout scheduled work time and perform other duties as assigned.
Clean tables and computers according to current protocol.
Check shelves to ensure books are in correct Dewey Decimal order and arranged neatly.
Perform scheduled floor duty, including shelving or relocating library materials.
Take book trucks to areas where materials are to be shelved.
Count library patrons hourly.
Assist students with machines and finding materials.
Search lists of items to fill material requests.
Shift ranges of books when instructed.
Assist with inventory of library materials.
Perform some desk duty, including checking materials in and out.
Deliver and pick up items around campus as necessary.
Make copies and prepare customized packets when assigned.
