About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is seeking a knowledgeable, patient, and dedicated Engineering Tutor to support engineering students in understanding and mastering engineering concepts. The ideal candidate will provide one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions, help students develop effective study strategies, and foster a positive learning environment.

Requirements

• Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno
• Candidate must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Candidate has earned at least a B in any course that you tutor
• Candidate has been a University of Nevada, Reno student for at least one year
• Candidate is available to work between 5 to 15 hours per week

Responsibilities

• Provide tutoring in core engineering subjects such as statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, circuits, fluid mechanics, and/or programming (depending on your expertise).
• Assist students in understanding homework assignments, preparing for exams, and developing problem-solving skills.
• Encourage independent learning and critical thinking.
• Collaborate with other tutors and staff to improve tutoring strategies and materials.
• Back up-front desk when needed
• Assist with College of Engineering events when needed
• Participate in social media posts to promote the Engineering Study Hub and the College of Engineering
