About The Position

In a student employee capacity, this role assists in working with external community service partners. We are looking for someone who isn’t afraid to jump in and help out, possesses good communication and interpersonal skills, an ability to organize, a great attitude, a strong work ethic, and can be trusted to work to complete assigned tasks without being micromanaged. The position involves educating visitors about the food system and sustainable agriculture, developing and executing educational activities, and facilitating volunteer and group learning experiences. The role requires working outdoors in various weather conditions and the ability to lift up to 50lbs routinely.

Requirements

  • Ability to educate visitors of all ages about the realities of our food system and sustainable agricultural alternatives.
  • Ability to assist the community engagement coordinator in developing and executing educational activities.
  • Must be able to work alongside a team as well as facilitate volunteer and group learning experiences.
  • Must be able to sustain extended periods of time working outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs routinely.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous office and educational experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in working with external community service partners.
  • Educate visitors of all ages about the realities of our food system and sustainable agricultural alternatives.
  • Assist the community engagement coordinator in developing and executing educational activities.
  • Work alongside a team as well as facilitate volunteer and group learning experiences.
  • Perform administrative duties.
  • Clean and organize facilities.
  • Prepare for and staff the Farmers Market.
  • Provide customer service and group orientation.
  • Care for the Urban Homestead Garden.
  • Support community outreach and educational programs on-farm and in the community.
  • Educate, instruct, orient, train, and inspire volunteers and clients in composting, sustainable agriculture, hunger alleviation, and food justice.
  • Handle compost pickups and sorting as needed.
  • Run various routine errands for the farm.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
