About The Position

This posting outlines multiple Teaching Assistant (TA) opportunities within the Television and Digital Media (TVR) courses at Ithaca College. TAs will support instructional activities, assist students with equipment and technical issues, and help facilitate course activities. Specific duties vary by course but generally involve equipment handling, setup, breakdown, providing guidance, troubleshooting, and fostering a collaborative learning environment. The pay rate for all positions is $16 per hour.

Requirements

  • Student must have taken the course before.
  • Student must have taken the course before and received at least a B+.
  • Student must have taken Cinema Production 2.
  • Student must have taken the course before and received at least a B.
  • Student must have taken at least one intermediate or advanced film production class.

Responsibilities

  • Support instructional activities related to audio production by assisting with equipment handling and overseeing recording sessions.
  • Ensure that studio sessions run smoothly, safely, and in accordance with department policies.
  • Support students in the effective use of studio production equipment, including cameras, lighting, audio, teleprompters, graphics, and related technologies.
  • Provide guidance in production areas aligned with TA expertise.
  • Assist with equipment setup and breakdown.
  • Answer student questions and provide training.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues during class sessions.
  • Assist with equipment distribution and return.
  • Support classroom exercises and student productions.
  • Work closely with the instructor to facilitate course activities.
  • Help support camera, lighting, and sound equipment instruction in class.
  • Assist in the operation of television production equipment.
  • Help to set up equipment, supervise and help students during class demos and make posters.
  • Provide assistance to the professor in operation of various television production equipment.
  • Assist during live broadcast productions that require an advance understanding of Live Event Production.
  • Pick up equipment reservations from PPECS and return equipment.
  • Assist with the Live Event equipment checkout system for reservations.
  • Offer tutoring for students that have a need for further support.
  • Assist with equipment demonstrations during class labs.
  • Assist in picking up and returning gear.
  • Provide classroom assistance during workshops.
  • Schedule visiting alumni, guests and jurors.
  • Provide peer feedback during project pitches and creative critiques.
