About The Position

This is a student employment position within the College of Arts & Sciences, specifically for Federal Work Study students. The role involves assisting with the maintenance and preparation of the Black Box Theater for various events. The Student Technical Theater Assistant will work under the supervision of the Theater Technical Director and will be involved in a range of technical theater tasks.

Requirements

Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
Ability to climb and work on ladders.
Ability to work at height.

Responsibilities

Assist with theater maintenance and preparation for events in the Black Box Theater.
Hang and focus lighting equipment.
Build, move, and install scenic elements and other performance equipment.
Paint scenery and props.
Use sewing machine to build or mend costumes.
Care for costumes including washing, drying, ironing, steaming, and other care methods.
Cleaning and maintenance of theater space and equipment.
Equipment organization and storage.
Event setup and strike.
Maintain a safe workplace through proper workwear including sturdy closed-toe shoes, durable pants, hair securely fashioned, and PPE as directed by the Technical Director.
