Student Success Services student employees (Tutors, Peer Coaches, and Supplemental Instructional Leaders) provide individual and small group assistance to students in various locations on campus and online. Meet with students on a one-on-one or small-group basis to provide learning assistance. Maintain a weekly schedule of available hours for the SSVRC (Student Success and Veterans Resource Center) and/or the TASC (Tutoring and Academic Support Center) for “drop-in” hours, both in person and online. Student employees are required to keep regular and accurate record sessions using Slate software. All positions will attend training sessions, and workshops are required. In addition, our student employees assist with additional duties as needed, for example, covering the front desk, answering phones, organizing materials, and performing other clerical duties. Many students who come to college are surprised by how different college is in comparison to high school. Student employees can help develop good study habits and behaviors to help them remain successful at UCA until graduation. If you are interested in becoming a UCA Tutor, Peer Coach, or Supplemental Instructional Leader, this is the position for you. Student Success looks for a strong GPA in college coursework, good communication skills, flexibility with regard to the work environment, openness to training, skills development, and eagerness to assist other students with transitioning to and successfully completing college.
