About The Position

As a Nurse Extern, you’ll be a valued part of the nursing team, gaining hands-on experience while exploring the full scope of the Registered Nurse role. You’ll help deliver safe, compassionate care that improves patients’ lives while building skills and confidence to take on more advanced responsibilities as you progress through your nursing program. The role includes opportunities to learn, contribute ideas to improve care, and work with a supervisor or preceptor to develop a personal career development plan.

Requirements

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
• Associate degree or bachelor’s degree.
• No experience required.
• No travel required.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living, vital-sign checks, mobility support, and comfort and hygiene.
• Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other basic procedures as experience and competency develop.
• Document care accurately and communicate timely updates to the nursing team.
• Help patients and families understand care plans and provide guidance related to health and recovery.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized patient areas by following infection-prevention practices and managing equipment.
• Participate in learning opportunities, share ideas to improve care, and partner with a supervisor or preceptor on a personal career development plan.
