About The Position

Corpus Christi Medical Center is seeking a Radiology Student Extern PRN to support the imaging team in providing patients with high-quality, efficient care. The extern helps prepare patients for imaging, supports safe patient transport, maintains imaging rooms and supplies, and communicates patient needs and concerns to technologists and the care team. The role also involves participating in learning opportunities and following safety and confidentiality standards.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in an accredited radiology technology program, or within six months of graduation.
Completion of prerequisite coursework in anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for imaging by obtaining histories, verifying identities, assisting with positioning, and communicating clearly and compassionately.
Safely transport patients between areas while supporting their comfort and emotional needs during procedures.
Set up imaging rooms, manage room turnover, and organize supplies to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient environment.
Communicate patient needs and concerns promptly to technologists and the care team.
Participate in learning opportunities and follow safety and confidentiality standards.
