About The Position

The Student Residence Life Team Assistant (RLTA) is a residential position that requires the employee to reside on campus and serves as a member of the staff leadership team. This position is an integral part of the residential life staff at Florida Gulf Coast University. The Student Residence Life Team Assistant should be able to demonstrate effective skills in communication, leadership, administration, and must understand and be sensitive to the needs of others. Many RAs will look to the RLTA as a role model, source of inspiration, and as a reliable team member.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Enrolled as a degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate student at Florida Gulf Coast University at the time of hire and throughout the appointment.
Minimum of two semesters of experience as a Resident Assistant.
Must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
Must be in good academic and conduct standing with the University.
Possess developed organizational, time and task management, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to receive a variety of tasks and accomplish tasks independently.
Possess knowledge of community development and how residential communities are built and maintained.
Demonstrate the ability to respond to supervision, guidance, and direction in a positive, receptive manner and in accordance with stated policies.
Provide quality customer service by creating a welcoming and supportive environment.

Responsibilities

Attends and participates in team meetings and regularly communicates with the supervisor regarding assignments, work progress, concerns, and operational needs.
Assists the supervisor with administrative assignments and day-to-day Residence Life operations.
Monitors and maintains assigned Residence Life documentation, including Room Inventory Forms, program proposals, receipts, program evaluations, and other records.
Reviews team duty logs and communicates identified problems or concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
Coordinates with Campus Reservations to secure spaces for programs, meetings, and area events as needed.
Assists with the management of residential campus spaces and services.
Creates and maintains bulletin boards and other community resources as assigned.
Assists with Resident Assistant training and development, including presenting sessions, preparing materials, facilitating meals, and supporting other training-related activities.
Assists with University and Housing and Residence Life events, including Eagle Expo and other outreach or engagement activities.
Assists with health and safety inspections alongside Resident Assistants and Housing and Residence Life staff.
Supports resident check-in and check-out processes.
Provides front desk and residential area coverage as needed.
Serves in regular and holiday on-call rotations on an as-needed basis.
Assists Resident Assistants and Housing and Residence Life staff with the planning and execution of large-scale programs and community events.
Serves as a resource, mentor, and positive role model for Resident Assistants and other student staff.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
