About The Position

The Department of Residence Life at Arkansas Tech University seeks a student-centered professional to serve as a Residence Life Coordinator. This position plays a key role in fostering inclusive residential communities that support student success, belonging, leadership development, and personal growth. The Residence Life Coordinator is responsible for community development, student support, educational programming, supervision, conduct administration, crisis response, and relationship building. The successful candidate will collaborate with students, faculty, staff, families, and campus partners to create a residential experience that promotes learning, engagement, and personal responsibility. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a Student Affairs professional to gain or expand experience in residential education, student support, supervision, crisis management, housing operations, student conduct, and leadership development. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience in Residence Life, student leadership, student organizations, orientation programs, camps and conferences, peer mentoring, housing operations, or other student engagement experiences.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Ability to reside in a university-provided apartment as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate coursework or a master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, College Student Personnel, Counseling, Leadership, or a related field.
  • Professional or graduate assistant experience in Residence Life, Housing, or another area of Student Affairs.
  • Experience supervising student staff, facilitating student conduct processes, responding to student concerns, and supporting student development initiatives in a higher education setting.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging residential community that supports student success, personal growth, and a strong sense of belonging.
  • Maintain a consistent presence within assigned area buildings through weekly building walkthroughs, one-on-one interactions, office hours, and educational and social programming.
  • Develop meaningful relationships with residential students through intentional outreach, regular visibility, individual meetings, and active community engagement.
  • Support the implementation, assessment, and continuous enhancement of residential curriculum initiatives and academic success programming.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to deliver educational, leadership development, and community-building opportunities that enrich the residential student experience.
  • Supervise and provide leadership, support, and professional development to Graduate Assistant Resident Directors and student staff in 5-6 Residence Life facilities.
  • Assist in the recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of residence life student employees.
  • Mentor student leaders and support their growth through ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Serve as a Conduct Officer using Maxient and facilitate educational conduct processes that support student learning and accountability.
  • Respond to student concerns and connect students with appropriate campus resources.
  • Assist with CARE Team referrals and student support initiatives.
  • Participate in crisis intervention efforts and provide support during emergencies affecting residential students.
  • Serve in an after-hours and weekend on-call rotation to respond to residence hall incidents and emergencies.
  • Oversee management of in-hall duty coverage throughout the year and during open break periods.
  • Rotate on-call responsibilities among the team as needed.
  • Oversee the daily operation of assigned residence halls, including occupancy management, room transitions, and administrative processes.
  • Collaborate with facilities, custodial, maintenance, and campus partners to support safe, functional, and welcoming residential communities.
  • Utilize Roompact and StarRez housing applications and university resources to maintain records, documentation, reports, and communication with residents.
  • Coordinate residence hall opening, closing, and break-period operations.
  • Participate in department committees, initiatives, assessment efforts, and strategic projects.
  • Support departmental goals and contribute to continuous improvement efforts within Residence Life.
  • Maintain positive relationships with students, families, faculty, staff, and campus partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
