About The Position

The Telfer School of Management is seeking a Student Part-Time Professor to teach the course ADM4356A: Alternative Investments and Risk Management during the Fall 2026 academic period. This course covers non-traditional alternative investments such as mutual funds, hedge funds, real estate, commodities, and income trusts. It also introduces basic concepts of risk management, including risk identification, analysis, likelihood of risks, and types of risks affecting property, income, responsibility, and decision-making. The teaching method will be delivered in person.

Requirements

  • Master's degree (MSc in Finance or in Economics) or MBA (in Finance), or a PhD in Finance or in Economics.
  • Alternatively, a professional designation along with extensive knowledge of fixed income, derivatives, risk management, or alternative investments.
  • Demonstrate recent professional experience in the area of the course.
  • Must have a Master's (MSc in Finance or in Economics) or MBA (in Finance) degree (PhD in Finance or in Economics preferred) or a professional designation along with extensive knowledge of fixed income, derivatives, risk management or alternative investments.
  • Must demonstrate recent professional experience in the area of the course.
  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in Finance or in Economics preferred.

Responsibilities
